By the way, it was the wild turkey that Franklin thought should be the national bird. In the wild, the turkey is a more interesting bird. Franklin was definitely not referring to the grotesque overstuffed poultry that usually passes for a turkey on Thanksgiving now, nor to the brand of bourbon :-).

However there is a story told by Dostoevsky's wife Anna; that she said that both of them were invited to a reunion (or party for our convenience) , and Dostoevsky heard rumors that Tolstoy was present at the moment on the same gathering. So this was a great opportunity for Dostoevsky to meet Tolstoy; but he made the decision in not to meeting Tolstoy; and both Fyodor and Anna left the reunion. What a pity! Next question: Franz Schubert was buried ( in Vienna) next to Beethoven (by Schuberts's request) ?
